FollowCheck processes your Instagram data export entirely in your browser. There is no server to send it to.

• Nothing is uploaded. The files you drop are read locally by the page. The app makes zero network requests after it loads. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use the tool — it stays empty.
• No account, no login, no password. We never ask for Instagram credentials and never connect to Instagram on your behalf.
• No analytics, no cookies, no tracking. No third-party scripts, no CDN fonts, no pixels. The page loads its own files and nothing else.
• Your export files are never persisted by the app. Close the tab and they're gone — the ZIP stays where you downloaded it, and nothing reads it again.

What is stored on your device

Four things, all of them in this browser's own storage, on this device only, and none of them anywhere else. There is no account and no server, so there is no copy of any of it that we — or anyone else — can see.

• Your list, so you don't have to drop the file again (fc_session_v1). The usernames of the accounts that don't follow you back, the dates you followed them, and whether you dropped a ZIP or loose JSON files. Nothing more: not your export file, not its file name, not your followers, not anything else in the download. It is saved when a list is shown, and replaced whenever you drop a new export.
• Which accounts you've cleared (fc_checked_v1) — the usernames you've ticked off as you unfollow them, so the list picks up where you left it.
• How you like the list sorted (fc_sort_v1) — one word, either recent, oldest or az, so the order you chose is still the order you get next time. It is a preference about the view, not information about you or anyone you follow.
• An offline copy of the app itself. After your first visit, your browser keeps a copy of this app's own files — the page, its scripts, its icons — so it opens instantly and keeps working with no internet at all. It stores the tool, never your export, and nothing is sent anywhere. You can delete it any time with Clear offline copy in the footer of the main page, or by clearing site data.

Why the list is saved: so that coming back to finish a long list takes one tap instead of finding the ZIP again. That is the only reason, and it is why the saved list is offered on the landing page rather than opened for you.

How to erase it: the results screen carries Saved on this device · Forget, and the landing card carries Forget it. Either one asks you to confirm and then deletes all of it immediately — the saved list, your check-offs and the sort preference. Clearing site data in your browser does the same thing. Nothing survives that, because there is nowhere else for it to survive.

If your list is too big for this browser's storage, nothing is saved and the app says so — the tool still works, you'll just drop the file again next time.

Why it's built this way

Every "who unfollowed me" app in this category asks you to hand over your Instagram login, which is how accounts get stolen. The zero network guarantee is the whole point of this tool, so it's a hard constraint on how it's built rather than a promise you have to take on faith. If a future version ever needed to talk to a server, it would be a different product with a different page.
